Is this reasonable, how am I?
So my mom told me yesterday that with her tax refund she is going to fix her '98 toyota camry and give it to me. It crapped out on us a few months back and she bought a dodge durango. She is also buying some guns and gun accessories etc....so the whole refund is not going to the car.
I was super excited until she dropped the bomb that I will be paying her back for the repairs.....
Woah ho ho....now typically I would be fine with this kind of deal since it is only fair BUT that's not all she expects.
She wants to take me off her car insurance and me go on my own. I am 20 and on her plan its cheaper for me to just pay her $150 vs. paying nearly $300+ in car insurance.
Then there is gas, which if my math is right I should get a little over 300 miles to the tank, 18mi/gallon, 19gal capacity. $50 to fill up completely. So maybe $50 a week for gas? $200 a month maybe..
So far that $500-600 a month for the car alone with insurance and gas, no way can I afford to pay back the repairs too, especially since she wants to make me have to pay more in insurance.
There are two choices:
A: I stay on her insurance so it's cheaper for me and I just pay her the money. I don't pay the repairs back because I didn't break the car. I pay for my gas, insurance under her name and any future repairs.
B: She takes me off her insurance and I get bent over by the insurance company because of my age. I pay the repairs and gas and stay broke with no way to save up money.
Who thinks choice A makes so much sense even a caveman could choose it?
I am responsible, I need to get a job to save up money for police academy which I am either going to in August or January of next year and I need to pay some medical bills off instead and take care of some health issues and go to the dentist and doctor....Its not that I don't want to pay but I have better uses to put any money I make towards...
So A or B?
And what would you do?
Question #13:
Has the question been asked,?
I am not going to buy health insurance, neither will I pay the "fine" for not buying something I don't want, what happens now, got to jail, if so for how longQuestion #14:
I like a lot of what I've heard Ron Paul say but.....?
What does he recommend we should do about PROBLEMS with health care costs in the US? What about people who can't obtain insurance on their own because of preexisting conditions?I mean, is Ron Paul against any reform at all or are there specific things which he says the government can do?
Can we ALL agree that things aren't right as they are?
If you can recommend a You Tube video where he talks about what he WOULD do rather that what he thinks we shouldn't do and why, I would appreciate it, something short and to the point.
Question #15:
Question for motorcyclists?
Why do so many motorcyclists think it's okay to drive between lanes? It's not. It's dangerous for you and me (the car driver) - mostly for you, to be honest...dangerous to my insurance rates, but extremely dangerous to your life. Why do this? Before anyone says this, yes, it might be the same as any driver breaking laws and safety regulations, but I think it's more dangerous than most moving violations.
Thanks for the answers, guys.
Just a few things to Dan H:
I don't live in California, Asia, or Europe, so even if it's customary and accepted there, it's not legal or expected here in New York.
You said it yourself: "Safe driving takes awareness of other vehicles by all operators." This is why I have never been in an accident - when others do foolish things, I am able to avoid any trouble. Don't assume I'm a poor driver - that's weak. You're just passing the responsibility of safe driving off of yourself and onto the car or truck driver. Now, you agree: safe driving goes both ways, right? Safety regulations are there for a reason - I do my part, now these motorcyclists must do theirs.
Mike, if you were able to answer my question, you haven't been killed. Helmet laws are for your own safety. If you don't want to wear a helmet, go ahead and LET YOURSELF get killed, because that's what you're doing (same as people who don't wear seatbelts). You, like any driver, should always be prepared that something might go wrong on the road.
Traffic accidents are typically caused when one person attempts to perform a maneuver that doesn't conform to safety regulations. This applies to motorcyclists as well. Why can't cars "stop killing" you? Because many of you drive like imbeciles. I observe many motorcyclists driving faster than the cars in the left lane, zipping around cars, squishing into tight spaces between trucks, and passing trucks on the right. Enough of this will result in an accident from any vehicle. Motorcycles are smaller. A driver is less likely to see a motorcycle than a car or truck (same reason small kids get run over more than adults), so those who drive small vehicles, like motorcycles, should drive EXTRA responsibly.
If you started out 3 lanes to my left and all of a sudden you're coming around me on the right squishing into a tiny spot between me and a truck, and you get squashed with no helmet on, like I said, it's your life (and yes that is your fault). All I get is a higher premium.
Question #16:
Why is it so hard for Democrats to figure out that Obama is helping the insurance companies earn more profits?
"To help pay for the new insurance requirements the government would give to people money to buy insurance - $336 billion over the next ten years. That money, ultimately, would have to go to... drum roll... insurance companies."Click Here
